The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebrations.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Magdalene Ajani.
According to the statement, the holidays are in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, both significant dates in the Christian calendar.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his warm greetings to Christians across the country, congratulating them on the occasion and urging citizens to reflect on the values of love and sacrifice embodied by Jesus Christ.
Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to use the Easter period to pray for peace, unity, and national stability. He reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at fostering growth and development across the nation.
The minister also called on citizens to demonstrate kindness and generosity to one another during the festive period.
He concluded by wishing all Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration and extended holiday greetings to the entire nation.
