A new study by Travel Republic has revealed the most affordable European holiday destinations for a pint, offering valuable insights for UK and Irish travelers seeking budget-friendly getaways.
The study analyzed data from 50 of the most popular cities in Europe, focusing on destinations frequently visited by UK and Irish tourists. To determine the best places for affordable beer, the researchers examined various factors, including the cost of a pint, the number of British and Irish bars in each city, and the overall pub experience available.
Key metrics used in the study included Google ratings for local bars, the availability of traditional British and Irish food, the presence of live sports screenings, and the diversity of beer options. The research aimed to identify which cities would offer an authentic British or Irish pub experience abroad.
Among the top findings, Alicante in Spain emerged as the most affordable destination for Brits seeking a cheap pint. At just £2.07 for a domestic beer, Alicante ranked as the cheapest city for beer among popular European holiday spots. Additionally, the city boasts 25 British and Irish pubs, ensuring a familiar pub experience for travelers.
The popularity of Alicante continues to rise, with over two million passengers arriving in July 2024, setting a new record for the city. Furthermore, searches for “Alicante holiday” increased by 70% in the UK over the last quarter, highlighting the destination’s growing appeal.
For those planning a European escape, Alicante offers both affordability and a vibrant pub scene, making it a top choice for beer-loving travelers.
