DOLE Issues Pay Guidelines for April 2025 Holidays

by Bella

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released official pay guidelines for employees in observance of the upcoming holidays in April 2025.

In an advisory signed on March 24, the DOLE clarified the pay rules for the four regular holidays and one special non-working day observed next month, which include Eid’l Fitr (April 1), Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9), Maundy Thursday (April 17), Good Friday (April 18), and Black Saturday (April 19).

Regular Holidays

The following dates are designated as regular holidays:

  • April 1: Eid’l Fitr

  • April 9: Araw ng Kagitingan

  • April 17: Maundy Thursday

  • April 18: Good Friday

For these regular holidays, employees who do not report to work will receive their full daily wage, provided they worked or were on paid leave the day before the holiday. Those who work on these days are entitled to receive double pay (200%) for the first eight hours.

Employees working overtime during regular holidays will be entitled to an additional 30% premium on top of their double pay. If the holiday falls on an employee’s rest day and they are required to work, they will receive a 30% premium in addition to the double pay.

Special Non-Working Day

Black Saturday, falling on April 19, is classified as a special non-working day, where the “no work, no pay” rule applies, unless the company policy specifies otherwise. Workers who are required to work on this day will receive an additional 30% of their basic wage for the first eight hours.

DOLE encourages both employers and workers to consult the full guidelines provided in the advisory to ensure accurate pay computations, particularly for overtime work and situations where holidays coincide with rest days.
