Private sector employees in Taiwan will be entitled to 12 public holidays in 2025, as outlined in the official calendar published earlier this year. During these holidays, banks and financial markets will remain closed.
The new year will begin with New Year’s Day on January 1, followed by a nine-day Lunar New Year holiday starting on January 25. Lunar New Year’s Eve will fall on January 28. This extended break includes two weekends, the eve of the Lunar New Year, and January 27, with employees required to work on February 8 to make up for the time off.
February will bring another long weekend with Peace Memorial Day on February 28, which falls on a Friday. April will also feature two days off, with Children’s Day and Tomb Sweeping Day observed on April 3-4, falling on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
In May, private sector workers will receive a day off for Labor Day on May 1, while government offices will remain open. The Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on May 31 (a Saturday), will see workers granted the day off on May 30.
October will bring the final public holidays of the year, including the Mid-Autumn Festival on October 6 and National Day on October 10, ensuring two long weekends in the first half of the month.
