Jerusalem Police Prepare for Enhanced Security During Passover and Easter Holidays

by Bella

In anticipation of the upcoming Passover and Easter holidays, the Jerusalem police have ramped up security measures to ensure public safety throughout the week-long observances. Thousands of officers from the Jerusalem district will collaborate with Border Guard soldiers, volunteers, and additional national reinforcements from Saturday night through Sunday, April 20.

The primary focus of these enhanced security efforts will be on high-traffic areas and religious sites, with the goal of safeguarding worshipers, residents, and visitors. Authorities have emphasized the importance of maintaining order and providing a secure environment for all those entering the city.

“We are committed to ensuring a safe experience for everyone during this holiday season,” a police spokesperson said. “Our operational preparedness will be bolstered, especially in crowded locations, and we will have increased patrols throughout the week.”

Along with strengthening security measures, police activity will also intensify on key traffic routes. The authorities will implement stricter enforcement against dangerous driving behaviors such as drunk driving, road bullying, and other life-threatening traffic violations.

In addition to monitoring traffic, the police will continue to regulate access to holy sites across the city. Special forces will be deployed in both the western and eastern parts of Jerusalem, as well as in the narrow alleys of the Old City, to ensure that religious freedom is upheld while maintaining public safety and order.

Recent days have seen the spread of inflammatory online statements related to Jerusalem’s holy sites. In response, police have warned that anyone attempting to incite violence or disrupt public order will face strict legal action.

“We will act decisively and with all available resources against any attempts to disturb peace or incite unrest,” the police statement concluded.

As the city prepares for the dual religious observances, authorities are confident that their comprehensive security measures will allow for a peaceful and orderly celebration of Passover and Easter.
