Karnataka Opens Vidhana Soudha for Public Tours on Holidays

by Bella

The Karnataka government has announced a new initiative allowing both domestic and international visitors to tour Vidhana Soudha on public holidays. Inspired by similar tours at Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Parliament building in New Delhi, this move aims to enhance Bengaluru’s tourism appeal.

The tours, which will be organized by the state’s tourism department, will run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on public holidays. A nominal fee will be charged for entry. The initiative seeks to educate visitors about the historical, cultural, and architectural significance of the iconic Vidhana Soudha, located on Ambedkar Veedhi.

The building, known for its grandeur and a popular photo spot, attracts thousands of visitors annually. As part of efforts to improve the monument’s visibility, the government recently installed a permanent lighting system to illuminate the structure at night.

Each tour will be led by a designated officer, guiding groups of up to 30 people through the building and providing in-depth explanations about its history. Visitors will be required to present identification and adhere to standard security protocols.

In addition, the government plans to launch an online platform for booking tour tickets, making the process more convenient for visitors. This initiative is expected to significantly boost Bengaluru’s tourism industry by offering an enriching experience at one of the city’s most historic landmarks.
