Government Declares April 6 as Public Holiday for Ramnavami

The government has officially declared April 6, 2025, a public holiday in observance of Ramnavami.

The announcement was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Monday, with Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, also the government spokesperson, revealing the decision on Wednesday.

In addition to declaring the public holiday, the Cabinet decided to present the government’s annual report for the fiscal year 2023-2024 to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. This move is in accordance with Article 53 of the Constitution of Nepal and Section 41 of the Good Governance (Management and Operation) Act.

As per the constitutional provision, the government is required to submit an annual report detailing the progress and achievements related to the implementation of state policies and obligations. The President will then present the report to the Federal Parliament through the Prime Minister.

Further decisions made in the meeting included the approval of a negotiation team to discuss the receipt of grants for the school sector reform program from the World Bank. The team will be led by a joint secretary from the Ministry of Finance.

The Cabinet also appointed Naresh Raj Aryal as a member of the Debt Recovery Tribunal and Dinesh Prasad Bhatta as the Chief Executive of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
