Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for a record surge in holiday traffic, as more than 3.6 million passengers are expected to pass through its terminals during the Eid travel peak, which runs from March 26 to April 7. The busiest day of the period is forecast for Saturday, April 5, when a staggering 309,000 passengers are anticipated to travel.
Daily traffic during this time is expected to average 276,000 passengers, with the highest increases expected in the first week of April. Compared to average weekly volumes over the past month, departures during the Eid week are anticipated to rise by 19%, reflecting the seasonal demand for travel.
With schools on break for spring, popular destinations for visiting friends and relatives (VFR) such as India, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom are seeing strong demand. Additionally, leisure travel is also on the rise, with increased traffic to destinations like Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Italy.
In response to the anticipated surge, Dubai Airports has introduced the DXB Express Maps, a real-time navigation tool designed to help passengers navigate the airport with ease. By scanning QR codes displayed on flight information screens, passengers can easily locate their gates, explore dining and retail options, and find other airport facilities.
Dubai Airports is also enhancing accessibility services during the busy period. For guests with special needs, clearly marked accessibility routes will be available, along with trained staff wearing Sunflower Lanyards and pins to discreetly assist those requiring support. Additionally, a dedicated Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2 will provide further convenience.
To ensure a seamless experience, Dubai Airports is collaborating closely with airlines, service providers, and government authorities to streamline operations and guest flows across all touchpoints.
