Khagrachhari is poised to see a significant influx of tourists during the nine-day Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, with local businesses anticipating a boost in revenue.
Tourism industry stakeholders have expressed optimism, as demand for accommodations and visits to popular tourist spots is expected to surge during the festivities. Uttam Kumar Majumder, manager of the Khagrachhari Tourism Motel, noted, “A large number of tourists are expected to visit Khagrachhari this Eid. Most hotels and motels have already been fully booked, and we are hopeful that, provided the situation remains stable, business will be prosperous.”
Industry insiders estimate that between 100,000 and 150,000 tourists will visit Khagrachhari and the nearby Sajek area over the course of the Eid vacation. Prominent tourist attractions, including the Alutila tunnel, the hanging bridge, Tareng, and the Richang waterfall, are expected to draw large crowds, continuing a trend seen in previous years.
Local hospitality businesses are preparing for a considerable uptick in visitors. To ensure tourists’ safety, the district’s tourist police will be stationed at major attractions. This year, mobile patrol teams will conduct regular rounds at key locations to maintain security and address any potential issues.
Zahidul Karim, Zone In-Charge of the Khagrachhari District Tourist Police, reassured the public, saying, “Our tourist police are working diligently to ensure the safety of visitors. Additional security measures, including routine patrols, are in place across all tourist destinations.”
Khagrachhari, which draws visitors year-round, is set to see a dramatic rise in the number of tourists during the Eid break. The district’s natural beauty—characterized by its mountains, forests, and waterfalls—remains a major draw for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
As the Eid holidays approach, the region is fully prepared to accommodate the influx of visitors and offer a safe, enjoyable experience for all.
